The Rookery

Had someone told me a few years ago that I’d soon have my own blog, I would have scoffed. Blog? Me? Hardly. What would I say? And how could I assume that anyone would read it? The blogger’s life, I knew, was not for me.

Until now.

What changed my mind? Reading more blogs. Reading good blogs—the engaging and well-written kind. Oh yes, and the few dozen people who told me that an author simply has to have a blog.

Just as it was for me with emoticons, I could only resist so long. After much debating, I decided to give it a go.

I’m Rachelle Delaney, the newly minted children’s author behind The Ship of Lost Souls, recently published by HarperCollins Canada. This blog is called The Rookery, partly because a rookery is a nesting place, a place to settle down, plump your feathers, and relax. Also partly because the rookery plays a great role in my novel. Also partly because I’m a bit of a bird nerd.

This blog will contain news and reviews of the Lost Souls, updates on my first tentative steps into the life of a children’s author, and of course loads of quirk and whimsy.

So thanks for visiting The Rookery, and be sure to check back. There’ll be a nest with your name on it next time you stop in.

Hi Rachelle (or should I say “ahoy!”?). Your website looks great! I love the rookery theme. Congrats on the novel too! When I was a kid I used to fall asleep at night thinking of pirates in the hopes of having adventurous pirate dreams (it often worked, but the pirate ship would inevitably sail up to my school). I’m sure I would have loved your book.
